Make the Western Cape your home in 2010 (200 Days to go)
The 2010 Co-ordination Unit in the Department of the Premier invited 6 schools to a coaching clinic with Ajax Cape Town in celebrating 200 days to go before the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010.
This event followed the success of the 300 Days to go event in which school teams and clubs participated and performed very well. The event was held at the AJAX Cape Town owned Cryff Court in New Crossroads on the Cape Flats, in partnership with Ajax Cape Town, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the Dreamfields Project and Global Icons.
The day's programme included a coaching clinic run by Ajax Cape Town and a session with Provincial Government Social Dialogue Unit which discussed issues around the 16 Days of Activism campaign and World Aids Day. Each participating club/ sports team was presented with a Dreamfields soccer kit representing a country which had expressed an interest in being based in the Western Cape during the World Cup.
The Dreamkits included countries such as Denmark, France and Japan, teams which of whom have subsequently confirmed their base camp preferences in the Southern Cape.
