Footballs for Fun
Footballs for Fun
Footballs for Fun is a charity organisation that aims to get 100 000 soccer balls to the children of Africa by 2010 while, at the same time, generating funds to support other charities working for the well-being of children in Africa, with a special focus on HIV/Aids, malaria, TB, polio, victims of abuse and/ or living in difficult circumstances such as without running water. In addition, Footballs for Fun is also often given football kits which are distributed locally with soccer balls.
As a host city for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Cape Town is doing everything it can to ensure that not only is the tournament itself a resounding success, but also that the citizens of the Mother City continue to reap the benefits long after it is over. Cape Town Tourism has contributed 200 footballs to the Footballs for Fun initiative, some of which were signed by Western Cape football ambassador Sergio Dos Santos.
